Overview
Summary
The Santa Barbara Ice Hawks (SBIH) is a co-ed ice hockey club that calls Ice in Paradise in Goleta, California its home. SBIH is governed by the Santa Barbara Minor Hockey Association, a nonprofit, public benefit corporation, which was organized to promote amateur athletes to conduct competition in ice hockey, and to support and develop athletes for competition.
Mission Statement
It is our mission to build character, develop skills and cultivate team-first concepts within a fun, safe and positive environment.
The following attributes constitute the core of the program and are utilized in player assessment to determine areas of growth.
- Character: All-encompassing passion, positive attitude and desire to improve individual and team attributes both on and off the ice.
- Sportsmanship - Overall positive behavior and attitude towards teammates, opponents, coaches and referees that shows respect for the game of hockey.
- Discipline - Determination to improve and exhibit consistent work ethic paired with the ability to listen to and focus on instruction.
- Commitment - Demonstrates dedication to the team through punctuality, preparedness and participation in all team related activities.
- Leadership - Respectful and responsible in setting a strong example of Sportsmanship and Discipline for teammates.
- Hockey Attributes: Combination of skills, knowledge and team building efforts that contributes to the overall betterment of the team.
- Team-First Mentality – Constantly strives to involve, include and support all teammates on and off the ice through team concepts.
- Mindset – Understands and applies learned concepts effectively and shows the ability to listen to and apply instruction within a game setting.
- Skillset – Exhibits strong skating, passing and shooting skills within the Team-First environment.
